These are three sets of sketch studies done in the U.S.: (1) a series of studies of armor pieces at the Kienbusch Collection in the Philadelphia Museum of Art; (2) a study of live birds in California and other localesg, as well as bird specimens done at the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco; and (3) drawing studies done at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco

Also shown is a landscape in Napa, that uses of watercolor and pencil to render a print-like image, referencing Japanese ukiyo-e.
